Teen Ghumti is an epic film about a journey of a women called Indira. The movie is based on a novel by Late P.M. Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala. Born to a family of ethnic group of Newars, Indira falls in love with a man called Pritamber who is her tuition teacher.The love story reach her Parent’s ear and they serious condemn the so called relationship of their daughter.Indira decides to leave her family and moves to Pritamber’s home. The two stay together but their values are not compatible to one another. Pritamber is also a revolutionist against the Kingdom and collaborate with his close friends and work together to bring democracy in the country abolishing the rule of the Ranas. One day the security forces crack the conspiring troops of Pritamber, raids the house for the evidence and takes him for imprisonment. Indira who never expected such thing to happen is devastated.Her life with Pritamber crumbles right in front of her eyes. She is also financially weak. Ramesh who is one of the counterpart of Pritamber sees her lonely life and falls for her. Indira and Ramesh give birth to a girl child. Meanwhile, Indira had been sending home cooked food to Pritamber during his sentence. Ramesh had been delivering the food, Indira learns from Ramesh that Pritamber hasn’t conveyed any message to her. During her relation with Pritamber, who said, it was Indira who had come to stay with him not vice-versa and also questioned on Indira’s capacity to become a mother.Indira has deep love and regards for her husband despite the social norms and conservative society. Later hearing about the release of Pritamber, Ramesh moves away and when Pritamber comes home he finds that Indira is admitted to hospital and has given birth to a girl child named Rama. Pritamber refused to accept Indira’s daughter because of her alleged relationship with Ramesh. Indira tries to explain him that it was he not Ramesh who she considered to be her man and ask for his affirmation. But she is rejected all the way with her child.Indira in a heavy frame of mind makes her farewell from Pritamber’s life and ventures out with her child to live elsewhere .The narrator shows the three decisions i.e the three turning points in Indira’s life. Independent, she is shown as a teacher, Rama has also grown up and has chosen a lifepartner which she shows her mother. Indira finds her son in law has shades of Pritamber and Ramesh. Later, it is revealed that Pritamber had married to someone alse and had children and Ramesh had also settled down with his life partner which she recalls.

The film is women-centric it doesn’t show the empowerment of women but rather shows the trails of womanhood from a daughter to a wife to a mother. How hard and painful is the journey of Indira has been the theme of the movie and we have liked watching it.
