Safar is a new Nepali movie featuring Manan Sapkota, Sanjay Gupta, Shibir Pokharel, Nurja Shrestha in the lead roles. The film is about the friendship between these characters who are living in the land of opportunities each who were once childhood friends. Rohit(Manan Sapkota) Gaurav(Sanjay Gupta) and Suman (Shibir Paudel) have pursued different field and they come together during a trip from Dallas to San Francisco where they relive their memories by sharing their problems, anxieties, fear and living life for a moment but with a consequence.Director Ashish Shrestha has shown the life of US migrants their lifestyle and encouraging people to visit US censoring issues like hardships and problems the students go through during in their life.He makes it worth taking the risk.
The film becomes melodramatic post interval but the director manage to pull the loose strings together. One of the key character dies during an outing at the gas station and that is when the bro-mance turns into sentimental saga where the once strayed people find their life’s purpose and forge ahead to achieve their mission that was proposed from their dying friend. The loss can be reduced by realizing the life’s goal and live them which their late friend desired. The story is fine it looks as though some inspiration were taken from film like”Dil Chahta Hai” and “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”but the treatment with the subject is producers prerogative and is justified. There are some points the film misses out to give the audience but is worth watching it.
