“Bir Bikram” is a Nepali film about two friends Bir played by Dayahang Rai and Bikram played by Anup Bikram Shahi. They are childhood friends and their friendship is very deep. They are separated and their memento is one rupee coin which Bir gives to Bikram which has a text “Bir Bikram” engraved. Bir helped Bikram when he was penniless in childhood. After that Bir lives as village boy and Bikram becomes teacher with a degree inside Kathmandu. Bikram returns to see Bir in adulthood. They have common love interest Joon. The context is unusual because Bir doesn’t recognize Bikram, Joon loving Bir from the heart but Bir incapable of expressing his true feelings because his love for Joon is keepsake for Bikram at departure in childhood. Aitey played by Arpan Thapa is a rich man who loves Joon but in return is despised greatly. Story unfolds when Bir looses his mother and Joon’s love. Later it is revealed that Bikram had fixed this whole setup to know Bir’s heart and this makes it emotional saga. The real hero is Bir and Joon because their love for each other is unmatched. Other characters also add to the story. Overall the film is an emotional love story but falters post interval due to dragged story line. Dayahang is very good as an earnest village guy, Deeya Pun as Joon is also equally good. Anup as Bikram is okay one could wish there was more dimension to his character than his role of reconciling Bir and Joon. Directed by Milan Chams this film will fill you with emotional drama.
