2018,undoubtedly has been year for leading ladies of Indian Cinema. In the beginning a mega budget controversial film Padmaavat was released starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. It was Deepika’s third project in the Bhansali’s camp after Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani. Made on a high budget the film managed to score a bumper opening in India and abroad.The film was a profit then came Aalia Bhat starrer Raazi. Alia took the film on her own shoulders due to good story and superlative performance of the lead heroine Raazi entered the 100 crore club in one week.Then after two weeks of Raazi’s release came another flick called “Veere Di wedding” by Shashanka Ghosh.It had Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar, Shikha Talsania and Sonam Kapoor playing the main roles.Most people thought that the films opening will be 4-5 crores on first day, but luckily the film pulled 10.7 crore and grossed 35 crore in its first weekend. After 15 days the lifetime collection in India is 77.5 crore and worldwide the figures are 131.84 crore against the budget of 42 crores. This shows that the heroines are no less than the heroes and they can also deliver blockbusters.Earlier, Kangana Ranaut starrer Tanu weds Manu returns was a blockbuster movie and she set a benchmark which others are keeping it up.
